The real Obverse Shoe Set (OSS) is
a Dovetail-standard adapter that is compatible with AN/PVS-14 night vision and PVS-14-compatible night vision. It is an adapter that allows you to attach and detach night vision devices to mounts from many helmet mount manufacturers,
including KVC's RQE Universal Bridge and PWM-S, which have a Dovetail-standard mounting base.
